  Vatican Museums, Sistine Chapel and St Peter's Church

  Regardless of your faith, it is hard not to be overwhelmed by the amazing architectural and artistic wealth of St Peter's Church, a timeless monument which over the centuries has embraced the genius of artists of the caliber of Michelangelo (whose Pietà is located at the entrance to the church) and Bernini (the architect responsible for both the cupola and the baldequin).

  The incredible treasures of the Vatican Museums include the splendid paintings of the Raphael Rooms and the Picture Gallery as well as the fascinating contents of the Gallery of Maps.

  The Sistine Chapel is home to probably the most famous frescoes in the world: Michelangelo's nine frescoes of The Genesis, a set of paintings which includes The Last Judgement, The Creation of Adam and The Original Sin. Yet these are only some of the works of Michelangelo to be admired in this most famous Vatican chapel.

• Tour # 2
  The Colosseum, the Palatine Hill and the Roman Forum

  Probably the most stimulating monument in Rome, the Colosseum is the symbol of the Eternal City and attracts tourists from all over the world.

  According to legend, the Palatine Hill is the place where Rome was founded and indeed archeological evidence confirms that it was not only the location of the first human settlement in Rome but also a prestigious place of residence during the Imperial Age.

  Grandiosely conceived and richly decorated, the Roman Forum was simultaneously the main shopping, administrative and civic centre of the ancient city of Rome.

Why not take a day out from your stay in Rome to explore some of the most important historic monuments of Italy?

• Tour # 3
  Naples and Pompeii

  Leaving Rome on the A1 motorway, you will be driven through the regions of Lazio and Campania as far as Naples where you will stop for a short tour of the city.

  After visiting the delightful tourist port of Molo Santa Lucia and the magnificent Castel dell'Ovo, you will be invited to admire the historic city centre, Piazza del Plebiscito, the Royal Palace (Palazzo Reale), the Basilica of San Francesco di Paola, San Carlo Opera House, Galleria Umberto I and the imposing Maschio Angioino Castle.

  The tour will then proceed towards Pompeii where you will have lunch in a restaurant specializing in typical local cuisine before visiting Pompeii, the Roman city buried by lava following the eruption of Mount Vesuvius in 79 BC.

  The tour will conclude with your return to Rome in the evening.
