Basilica of Saint Paul Outside the Walls

Description

Built by Constantine in the 4th century over the tomb of Saint Paul, until the building of Saint Peter’s church, this was the largest cathedral in the world (it is now the third largest). The original basilica was destroyed by fire in 1823 and the church we see today is a later reconstruction
