Located alongside the gate (Porta del Popolo) on the northern side of Piazza del Popolo, the church of Santa Maria del Popolo was one of the first renaissance churches to be built in Rome. the church is decorated with works by Pinturicchio, Raphael, Caravaggio, Bramante and Bernini
