Church of Santa Pudenziana

Description

The magnificent 4th century mosaic conserved in this church is the oldest apse mosaic in Rome. Dedicated to Pudenziana, the daughter of a Roman senator and the sister of Saint Prassede, this church is built on the site of the house into which she welcomed Saint Peter in the year 2 AD.
