This 4th century church was built in honour of Saint John and Saint Paul, Roman soldiers who served Emperor Constantine II and were beheaded when they refused to serve at the court of Constantine’s anti-Christian successor Emperor Julian.
More interesting than the church itself are the excavations of various roman houses below (Tel. 0670454544; www.caseromane.it; entrance fee charged; open from 10.00 am to 1.00 pm and from 3.00 pm to 6.00 pm). According to legend John and Paul lived here and indeed, excavations have proved that Christian worship was practiced in the area.
8.30-12 and 15.20-18.30
No entrance fee charged
The place of interest can be reached underground railway by Colosseo/Circo Massimo.
