Imperial Forum

Description

The entrance to the Imperial forum is located on the right of Via dei Fori Imperiali heading towards the Colosseum. Built by Trajan, Augustus, Caesar and Nerva between 42 BC and 112 AD in order to replace the existing forum which was no longer able to cope with the needs of the empire, in 1933 it was flanked by Via dei Fori Imperiali, a wide road commissioned by Mussolini whose construction destroyed many 16th century buildings and covered much of the forum itself.
