Mausoleo di Cecilia Metella

Description

Wishing to ensure that his daughter in law, Cecilia Metella, was buried in a dignified manner, the extremely wealthy Marcus Craxus built a 11 metre high cylindrical mausoleum of over 30 metres in diameter. In the centre of the mausoleum there is a fine burial chamber, which has unfortunately lost its ceiling.
