Although the façade of Palazzo Barberini is a variation on an original project by Raphael, the building itself was designed by Carlo Maderno in 1627. Today Palazzo Barberini houses part of the collections of the National Gallery of Ancient Art and includes paintings by Raphael, Caravaggio, Guido Reni, Bernini, Filippo Lippi and Hans Holbein.
