Built by Emperor Hadrian between 118 and 125 AD over an existing temple completed by General Marcus Agrippa in 27 BC, the Pantheon was one of the most famous buildings of ancient times.
Now over two thousand years old, the building has been a Christian church since 608 AD although, as suggested by the Greek origins of its name (pan = all; theos = God), Hadrian’s temple was dedicated to the worship of all gods.
