Dominated by a grandiose neoclassical portico, Piazza della Repubblica is more a place to be admired on the move than a final destination. Also known as Piazza Esedra, it covers the area once occupied by the semicircular exhedron of the ancient baths of Diocletian.
The Fountain of Naiads in the centre is decorated with sculptures by Mario Rutelli showing Glauco, a marine spirit, fighting a fish surrounded by four Naiads, aquatic nymphs who seem to be kicking their feet in the water.
No entrance fee charged
The place of interest can be reached underground railway by Piazza della Repubblica.
