PALAZZO MASSIMO |
|
The district
Overlooking the baroque dome of the church
of S. Andrea della Valle, the apartment
is quiet at anytime of the day or night
despite being located in the heart of the
day and night life of the city. It is an
ideal solution for visitors wishing to experience
the history, life and traditions of Rome.
As described and illustrated below, during
restoration of the flat several original
Roman columns with extremely well preserved
capitals were brought to light.
The apartment is well served by the public transport system and located in a strategic position for visiting the eternal city. A five minute walk leads to the Pantheon, while it takes only ten minutes to get to the Trevi fountain and 15 minutes to get to the Colosseum or St Peter’s church.
The historic building (right photo next
to the church) dates back to the first half
of the 16th century and is part of the "Palazzi
dei Massimi" complex together with
"Palazzo di Pirro", and “Palazzo
delle Colonne" (famous for its semicircular
façade). Both the buildings were
designed by Renaissance architect Baldassare
Peruzzi.
The apartment
"Palazzo Massimo" is a welcoming,
30 m² two-roomed flat on the third
floor (no lift) of a historic building.
The lower floor day area is fitted with
a single sofa-bed and a kitchenette, while
the night area on the upper floor has a
double bed and bathroom with shower.
The apartment has been recently restructured and its interior pays tribute to both Roman art and Renaissance architecture. In fact two Roman columns with Corinthian capitals marvelously preserved over the centuries give visitors the unique chance to enjoy a real and proper home museum!
The apartment sleeps two people comfortably with the possibility of accommodating a third person on the lower floor.
The bare beams and parquet floor add a touch
of intimacy to this quiet, comfortable flat.
The windows overlook the characteristic
roofs of the city centre and the dome of
the church of S. Andrea della Valle. The
apartment is fitted with air conditioning
and autonomous central heating, satellite
TV, CD player and fully equipped kitchenette.
