Description

The Area

Covering the slopes of one of the seven hills of ancient Rome (the Esquiline hill), Colle Oppio is a quiet area populated by beautiful medieval churches, ancient stone walls and perfumed gardens, yet it lies just a few hundred yards from the hustle and bustle of the Colosseum.
In Imperial Roman times, this area was home to the wealthiest citizens of Rome, although it was also the location of the zoo in which the beasts used in the entertainments at the Colosseum were housed. Obviously, the ancient history of the area makes it one of the richest archeological treasure chests of the city.
Within the park (Parco del Colle Oppio) which stretches from the apartment as far as the Colosseum lie the Baths of Trajan, an imposing spa complex built over the ruins of Emperor Nero’s imperial villa, the Domus Aurea. Following the death of Nero, his successors left his home to go to ruin and then used the foundations of the villa to build the baths.
Since the 1930s the area has been designated an archeological area. As a result, a sunset stroll along the main avenue of the park allows both magnificent views of historic architecture and a pleasant form of gentle exercise, a wonderful experience at any time of the year.

The Apartment

Located on the fourth floor (with lift) of an quiet Liberty-style palazzo in the residential area of Colle Oppio, the apartment offers a splendid view of the Colosseum and the domes of the churches of Rome.

There are two spacious bedrooms fitted with one double and two single beds each one to accommodate 8 people while the master bedroom is furnished with a double bed for two more persons. The large sitting room is decorated in various shades of ochre.
All the rooms still have their original vaulted ceilings and exposed brickwork.
The apartment has two bathrooms: one with bath and one with shower (also fitted with washing machine).

The kitchen is fully furnished with a fridge, traditional and microwave ovens, dishwasher and all the equipment necessary for the preparation of meals. The kitchen opens onto a small balcony overlooking an inner courtyard. The dining table can seat up to 10 people.

The apartment also has a free wi-fi Internet connection.

At the arrival a deposit of Euro 300 is required, which will be returned at the end of the stay except in case of any damage caused to the flat.

Sorry, no suggestions! We've had a great time in Rome. The apartment was great: large, clean, all equipment we needed was there. With 3 little children and 2 extra guests we used the apartment with 7 persons. We all slept well on the good beds. Cooking was no problem and the Internet worked good. Most important: what you see is what you get! Thank you for making our first trip to Rome unforgettable.

A fantastic apartment. We enjoyed the large open spaces and beautiful breeze that flowed through in the evening. Perfect location. We walked everywhere.

We enjoyed our stay here immensely. The apartment is comfortable and stores are nearby, Most historical sites and places of interest are within walking distance of the apartment. I would strongly recommend this place to friends and family.

First of all I want to say that Rome Accommodation agency has a wonderful website, descriptions are clear and pictures are true! Then I appreciated the plan of the apartment and the chance to calculate the exact price by myself, without any hidden cost. We were a family of 6 and the apartment was very large and comfortable for us. We found in the apartment everything we need, as in our own house: fully equipped kitchen, TV, towels and sheets and Internet access. By the way furniture was in good conditions and all the apartment was very clean. The area is very safe and quiet, there is a wonderful park nearby and, above all, the Colosseum is just few steps away. Staff was very friendly and helpful. We would choose the same apartment for a next trip in Rome!
