The District

The apartment is located in a 16th century palazzo in Via del Governo Vecchio, a street previously known as Via Papalis as it was included in the route taken by the processions which led from Saint Peter’s church to the church of Saint John Lateran. Lined with both smart Renaissance palazzos and simple town houses from the same period, the street is lined with a mixture of vintage shops, bric-a-brac stores, famous restaurants and street cafes with open air tables.

The delightful position of this apartment, which looks out onto Via del Governo Vecchio, just 50 meters from Piazza Navona, means that many of Rome’s most famous places of interest - the Trevi Fountain, the Pantheon, Piazza Venezia, the Roman Forum, Campo de Fiori, Castel Sant’Angelo and the Vatican – are little more than just a short walk away.

The apartment

Situated on the first floor, the apartment is composed of a large sitting room fitted with a kitchenette, a round dining table and a double sofa bed (cm 160x190). The kitchenette is fully equipped and fitted with washing machine, dishwasher, refrigerator, gas stove, oven and microwave. Through the kitchenette it is possible to access to the toilet.

The first double bedroom, furnished with antique fittings, is fitted with air conditioning and has an ensuite bathroom with bath/shower. A third person may sleep in this room on a comfortable single sofa bed. In the library area next to the sitting room which leads to the second double bedroom, an elegant sommier sleeps another person.

The second double bedroom is a bright room with wonderful views over the picturesque Via del Governo Vecchio. The characteristic ceilings with wooden beams and the honey colored parquet floor which feature throughout the flat give the apartment a warm and welcoming atmosphere.

The apartment can sleep up to 8 people and is fitted with television, washing machine, dishwasher, electric fans (and air conditioning in one bedroom) and free WI FI Internet access. Bed and bath linen are supplied.

From the airport

Taxi service

On request a driver will collect you from either Fiumicino or Ciampino airport and take you straight to the apartment.

From Leonardo da Vinci - Fiumicino airport

Take the train to Termini Station and then Bus N° 64 towards S. PIETRO, alighting two stops after Largo Argentina at Vicolo della Cancelleria. Take Vicolo della Cancelleria as far as the crossroads with Via del Governo Vecchio

From Ciampino airport

Take the CO.TRA.L. coach service from the Arrivals Hall as far as "Anagnina" underground station and then the underground to Roma Termini station. Take Bus N° 64 towards S. PIETRO and alight 2 stops after Largo Argentina at Vicolo della Cancelleria. Take Vicolo della Cancelleria as far as the crossroads with Via del Governo Vecchio.

From the train station

From Roma Termini station take Bus N° 64 towards S. PIETRO and alight 2 stops after Largo Argentina at Vicolo della Cancelleria. Take Vicolo della Cancelleria as far as the crossroads with Via del Governo Vecchio.

We chose this flat because of its location and description.
The location was superb and that mattered a lot as we were with our 85 year old mother. We were able to visit the Vatican, Pantheon, Ancient Roman remains, museums and markets either by strolling slowly or catching a taxi. Its central location meant we did not waste any time travelling. Every journey was a site seeing delight. The walks from the flat to Piazza Navona or around the small streets and alleys from Governo Vecchio were superb. The local restaurants meant we dined out when we chose to and ate well. There was also a small supermarket a few minutes along from the flat so shopping for food or small items was easy.
The flat was clean and very spacious for us three. It had a good library. The street below was busy and atmospheric but not noisy. It felt like being in Rome! The staff at Rome Apartments were extremely helpful. They helped us by giving us extra time on the Sunday so we were comfortable and could stay a few hours longer before departing to the airport. This was most appreciated by our mother who could wait in comfort before her flight.

Excelente salida y entrada de año en Roma, teniendo como punto de reunión y descanso este palacio: el estar tan céntrico nos ha facilitado la visita a los cuatro punto cardinales de la ciudad.

En nuestro caso este viaje ha sido para recordar la belleza monumental de esta gloriosa ciudad, puesta que ha sido nuestra segunda visita. Y es de esperar que no sea la ultima, si se cumple la tradición de la Fontana de Trevi.
