The Area

Described by Ennio Flaiano as “a great capital and a tiny provincial town”, Rome is both an imposing city of incomparable architectural and historical works of art and a cluster of tightly interwoven lanes, workshops, restaurants and noble palazzos. The street in which the Altemps apartment is located, Vicolo della Palomba, lies right in the heart of this delightful scenario.
Positioned just a few yards from Palazzo Altemps, a fine renaissance palazzo which now houses the National Roman Museum, one of the most important archeological museums in Rome, the apartment is also close to Palazzo Scapucci whose unusual tower is a central feature of the legend of the monkey recounted by the American author Nathaniel Hawthorne in his French and Italian Notebooks (1883).

The apartment is also just a few minutes’ walk from Piazza Navona, the Pantheon, Castel Sant’Angelo and the Ara Pacis.
The quiet pedestrianzed side street in which the apartment is located is lined with various local businesses including a goldsmiths’ workshop, restaurants, pizzerias and a bakery.

The Apartment

Located on the first floor of a characteristic building, at the top of a flight of stone steps, the apartment is both quiet and perfectly positioned for visiting the centre of Rome. The apartment overlooks one of the typical cobbled streets (now pedestrianzed) of the city centre and is composed of a sitting room with double sofa bed and kitchenette and a master bedroom with double bed and walk-in wardrobe area. The apartment can sleep up to four people. The bathroom is fitted with a shower and a washing machine. The kitchenette is fully furnished with an oven and a dishwasher. The apartment is also equipped with free WI FI Internet connection.

The great attention to detail with which the apartment has been furnished can be seen in the choice of including a finely restored 18th century dining table, an impressive Venetian glass chandelier and a valuable bedroom corner chest among the furnishings.

Cozy and welcoming, the apartment is lined throughout with parquet flooring while the ceilings are traversed by original wooden beams. In addition to this, the antique furnishings make the apartment the perfect base for a delightful visit to the Eternal City.

From the airport

Taxi service

Upon request a driver will pick you up at the airports of Fiumicino or Ciampino and drive you to your apartment. You can request the service by sending us an e-mail including your flight details.

From Leonardo da Vinci Fiumicino airport

Take the light railway to Termini railway station and then bus N° 70 to CLODIO. Alight at SENATO bus stop in Corso Rinascimento and then continue straight through the square of Sant'Apollinare. After 100 meters you’ll see Vicolo della Palomba on the right.

From Ciampino airport

Take the CO.TRA.L. coach service from the bus station in front of the Arrivals hall (Arrivi Bus) to "Anagnina" underground station and then the underground railway to Termini railway station. From the station, take bus N° 70 to CLODIO. Alight at SENATO bus stop in Corso Rinascimento and then continue straight through the square of Sant'Apollinare. After 100 meters you’ll see Vicolo della Palomba on the right.

From the station

From Termini Station you can either take a taxi to the apartment or the bus number 70 to CLODIO. Alight at SENATO bus stop in Corso Rinascimento and then continue straight through the square of Sant'Apollinare. After 100 meters you’ll see Vicolo della Palomba on the right.
