description

The Jazz House is an apartment of 45 square metres facing the quiet and bright interior courtyard of the building complex. It is located on the third floor of a building from the 19th century with an elevator. The building has been carved out of an old convent.

The apartment has been recently renovated and furnished ex-novo. The modern grey parquet floor and the vaulted ceiling in Roman tiles, illuminated by LED lights, render the ambience welcoming and elegant at the same time.

The living room is furnished with a functional fiery red kitchen, which includes a microwave, fridge, dishwasher, freezer, a glass dining table with 5 chairs in faux leather, a comfortable sofa bed and a flat screen TV on the wall.

The ambience is further enriched by posters and displaying some of the main protagonists and places of Jazz, which will lead the guest into the magical musical atmosphere from back then. The living room is completed by its most characteristic corner: a shelf with a gramophone in nut wood with a distinctive trumpet, manually operated with a lever. You can turn back in time and listen to the music from the golden years of the African American culture on authentic Bakelite discs from back then.

A vestibule with a comfortable wall closet and a washing machine lead to the two bedrooms, which are small but functional. There are a single and a double bedroom, the latter furnished with a bed with useful container space underneath, and a TV. Both bedrooms are furnished and illuminated with elegant retro-lighted pictures. In keeping with the style and theme of the entire apartment, these show scenes of the Jazz era as well.

In the bathroom there is a comfortable shower with a glass door. There is air conditioning in the apartment in all areas and free WI-FI Internet connection.

Even though the surface area is rather small, every small space has been used in order to render the apartment as comfortable as possible and to offer our guests an intimate and welcoming atmosphere.

Car

The apartment can be reached by car. It is possible to park the car in the private garage in Via Giolitti next to the Termini station, or you can park near the apartment within the blue and white lines (subject to fees).

In the area around the apartment

We are in the Esquilino Quarter; an area that has been named after one of the seven hills of the capital, directly in the center of Rome. The apartment is only 50 metres away from the Subway station "Metro A – Vittorio Emanuele", just a few minutes by foot from Termini station and other interesting areas of historic-cultural interest in the capital, such as the Rome Opera House.

The Basilica Santa Maria Maggiore and San Giovanni in Laterano can be reached easily by foot as well as the via dei Fori Imperiali and the Colosseum, which are part of the pulsating heart of the history and art in antique Rome.

Upon leaving the building you will reach the historic Piazza Vittoria, which is not far from the apartment. The Piazza is surrounded by large arcades in the style of the 19th century. In recent years, it has been the showcase of important building renovations that have returned some of the beautiful buildings to their former splendor.

Across the Piazza you can reach the historic market of Piazza Vittorio on foot, the most famous of the capital. Passing through its colors, scents, and flavors it will make you feel as if you were traveling continents and cultures far, far away.

The Esquilino quarter, in which the apartment can be found, is rich in restaurants, bars and multiethnic stores that have everything, and which is a real melting pot of races, languages and cultures that literally render Rome the "Caput Mundi".

Good appartment, well represented by the pictures on the site. The welcome process was very well handled, making the arrival very smooth.

    The + :
    - close to a lot of interesting locations by foot : 15min walk from Termini station, but also from the Colosseum, and 2 of Rome's basilicas ; a couple minutes away from a small supermarket and a nice Italian restaurant.
For public transportation, very close to the metro ; for the buses line 87 is 5 minutes away, and will let you access a lot of touristic spots. Overall, very convenient.
    - air conditioning
    - quiet building

    My only -:
    - the area around the Termini station is not the prettiest area in Rome ; so just be aware when you pick this appartment that you'll be trading a bit of charm for convenience with transportation.

Overall, we were very pleased with our stay, and with the appartment itself !
