Piazza Colonna

PiazzaColonna

Palazzo Chigi, which is the official residence of the Prime Minister of Italy, is located here on Piazza Colonna

Over 30 metres high, the column after which Piazza Colonna is named was inspired by the nearby Trajan’s column, which is approximately one century older, and was built in 180 AD to commemorate the death of Marcus Aurelius.

Around the column his campaigns and conquests in Germany against the Marcomanni are depicted.
